Pre-School education is a very important part of the extended school provision at The Roundhill Academy and is valued within their ethos of supporting life long learning.
Our parents contribution is valued and respected and we aim to keep them informed, consulted, involved and included at all levels.
Our settings aims are to;
Provide high quality care and education for children below statutory school age.
Work in partnership with parents to help their child to learn and develop.
Offer children and their parents a service that promotes equality and values diversity.
We believe and provide pre-school children with a safe, caring and stimulating environment, in which to flourish and nurture their individual talents. By providing this, together with a wide range of quality pre-school learning opportunities and play activities, in and outdoors, we believe that we are able to assist the educational and personal &social development of each individual child. This combination introduces your child to the full range of skills they will need later on and gives her/him an ideal start in life.
Throughout the year we plan a variety of activities which covers all seven areas of learning, set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage. All the children are encouraged to take part and their progress and achievements are recorded by their keyworker.
Each child is allocated a keyworker, who will, through discussion with the parents and child, plus observation’s , support, encourage and plan for a child’s development. This will be done at the child’s own pace, and using their interests and achievement’s to support the next stages in their development.
We have a dedicated and committed staff team, all of whom are experienced in child care and early year’s development, as required by Ofsted. As a pre-school we are proud of the high ratio of staff to children, that we are able to offer. This ensures that we are able to provide individual attention to the needs and development of each child. All our permanent staff members are trained to Level 3 in childcare, which is above the requirements of Ofsted.
As part of the setting’s policy to make sure that its provision meets the needs of each individual child, we take account of any special needs a child may have. We work closely with fellow professionals to support a child’s needs and offer support and guidance to the child and their parents.
We offer morning and afternoon sessions 9.00 till 12.00 and 13.00 till 16.00. Plus full day sessions 9.00 till 16.00.
The children are offered a snack (at no extra charge) in both the morning and afternoon sessions. Children who are attending all day, will need a packed lunch.
We are fortunate to have a spacious child centered rooms and a vast outdoor play area, which provides a grassed play area and a wooded (forest) space, where the children can explore their natural environment.
